The LUMA Hotel And HKT Industries Organised A CNY CSR Programme At Dream Centre Penampang

PENAMPANG: Spreading the cheer of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, The LUMA Hotel, Kota Kinabalu has teamed up with HKT Industries Sdn Bhd to pay a visit to Dream Centre Penampang 梦想中心 as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) project.

Located strategically in the heart of KK City’s Sutera Avenue, Jalan Sembulan, The LUMA Hotel is a Design Hotels member under the distinguished Marriott Bonvoy brand. One of the newest hotels in Kota Kinabalu, The LUMA Hotel opened its doors to the public in early 2022, making history as the first-ever creative design hotel in Borneo, drawing inspiration from Sabah’s lush rainforest and abundance of nature.

Established in 2008, HKT Industries Sdn Bhd is renowned for its manufacturing brand names, products of quality and reliability in various products. The company manufactures high-quality foam and spring mattresses, divan bed frames, sofas, office furniture and
partition in Sabah.

To raise funds for this CSR initiative, The LUMA Hotel has organised a charity bazaar selling used linens and towels, while HKT sponsors water bottles and containers to be made into gift sets for the children at the Dream Centre. Special thanks to HKT Industries Sdn Bhd for these generous donations.

The pre-Chinese New Year CSR visit is attended by The LUMA Hotel General Manager, Michele Ma and the management team. In addition to handing Chinese New Year goodies and donations for the Lunar New Year season, the group also entertained the Dream Centre residents with the showing of traditional Chinese New Year videos, singing to them, and making fried nian gaos together.

For lifestyle and boutique hotel, The LUMA Hotel, the visit to the Dream Centre Penampang was the first CSR project by the organisation since its inception in early 2022.

“We understand that amidst the excitement of the coming Lunar New Year, there are those less fortunate who are ill or lonely. Our initiative here is to help ease the burden however we can and help cheer up the old, disabled and lonely who are often forgotten by members of society,” says Michele.

The Dream Centre Penampang is a Christian, non-profit organisation that seeks to reach out to people who have exceptional needs. The centre aims to improve the lives of helpless people, disaster victims and children with special needs, and empower women.

Located at Kampung Kobusak, this non-governmental organisation (NGO) welcomes donations from food produce and non-perishable items, including used clothes that are still in good condition.

If you are interested in donating or volunteering at the Dream Centre, please contact the centre hotline at 014 651 7133 (Dream Centre Penampang) or 016 837 0092 (Hannah). Alternatively, you can make your cash donation via bank transfer to Public Bank account no 3218 7713 02.
